In 1949 Mr. T.W. Tucker and sons Dick and Jake

location.
They also purchased Higginbotham Lumber Co. on
Roberts St. and combined it with West Lumber Co.
In 1956 Jake and Bettye Tucker bought the business
and Dick Tucker opened Tucker Lumber Co. IN Hillsboro,
Texas.
The Tuckers operated the business for 55 years and
built hundreds of homes in and around the town of West.
In January 2004 the lumber yard was sold to Ray and
Debbie Vanek, who remodeled the building and fenced in the
large open area adding a variety of merchandise including
clothing and gardening.
In June 2007 it was purchased by Gary and Lydia
Nors who now operate the business.
